About

Nearly all his work is devoted to the exploration of glass as a sculptural medium and where appropriate he adapts the latest glass engineering techniques. He often incorporates toughened and shatter resistant glass laminates and is thus able to create glass sculpture which does not need support and is robust and durable.

Has exhibited and sold his unique glass pieces all over the world.

His technology degree has given him great insight into structure and physical properties of glass, and this enables him to realise highly original and unexpected artistic possibilities for this spectacular medium.

His work frequently features on television.

Artist Statement

Nearly all of my work is currently devoted to the expoloation of glass as a suclptural medium although I occasionally accept commissions in other media.

Where appropriate I employ adaptations of modern glass engineering techniques and methods used in the construction of shatterproof glass laminates. In this way I am able to create glass sculptures which do not reuire ancillary support and yet, as works of art, are robust and durable.

I am interested in light and ofrm and the ambiguities that transparent forms create within themselves and their surroundings. I also enjoy the challeng of working against the constrainst of an essentially lamella medium together with the freedom of scale that this approach makes available.

Awards and Prizes

Elected to membership of the prestigious Royal Society of British Artists earlier this year and becomes one of the select handful of British sculptors entitled to use both the letters ARBS and RBA after their name.
